Ingenico has been an early and very pro-active supporter and implementer of nexo standards. Ingenico developed comprehensive solutions for both the organized retail and small merchants based on nexo standards, implementing the nexo-Fast payment application and the RET protocol. Ingenico solutions were consistently the first to reach certification. First market deployments (millions of transactions are processed weekly based on nexo standards) are very promising: performance and stability levels are up to expectations, and customers are extremely satisfied.
As we currently see the market demand evolving towards multi-country, international acceptance solutions, we expect adoption of nexo standards to increase very rapidly in the coming years.

A complex situation for merchants. nexo is a consortium involving all the stakeholders of the payment industry value chain working to develop a common protocol and unified solution to facilitate electronic payments in Europe. The harmonization of card payments protocols across countries can stimulate innovation and accelerate the deployment of services.
Being able to offer the best payment facilities on the European market, while offering the best possible customer experience is one of our key strategic priorities. We are excited to be one of the early adopter and taking an active role in shaping industry standards which will bring numerous benefits to all stakeholder of the card payment ecosystem. In Europe, we operated and managed 8 different electronic payment systems. Such context was preventing us to provide rapidly to our customers the newest payment solutions available. The goal was therefore to find a common European solution, easily and quickly scalable, reducing our strong dependency from the different suppliers – terminal providers and bank acquirers. By supporting the strategic views and the creation of SEPA by the European Commission and the European Central Bank, adopting the nexo Acquirer standard became the obvious choice for us.
At Verifone, we are actively participating in the creation of new standards that we will be able to leverage as we plan for the future. nexo ensure interoperability of cards payments thanks to common and open standards. By joining nexo, participants’ beneficiate of global solution, improve time to market and cost optimization and prepare the future.
AccorHotels participation in nexo would provide the enterprise the ability to overcome the deployment complexity and the cost related to heterogeneity of standards. It would help centralize the cards payment collection, offer the same quality of services in the SEPA area and beyond and limit the cost development of internal interfaces.
With its standards for the acceptance of card payments, nexo is expected to contribute to the harmonization of the acceptance infrastructure, thus allowing the market to migrate successively from a more fragmented legacy infrastructure towards a harmonized one, which ultimately should lead to reduced costs and increased interoperability.
Joining nexo is a significant leverage for SNCF Mobility meeting its commitment to international standards and continuous improvement offering agile, efficient and evolving solutions in accordance with best practices; SNCF Mobility is looking to benefit from open protocol that can also contain merchant specific data and actively contribute, promote industry standardization and interoperability given SNCF Mobility business evolution : selling mobility services.
